Henry Smith Fisher (1831-1881), co-editor with F M Webb of the Flora of Liverpool & District (1872-5);collected in Lancs., Cheshire and adjoining counties.

Many references in literature of the period - The Phytologist, Science Gossip and local Natural History / Philosophical Societies.

Lived in Liverpool, Scotland Road in 1853 - see snippet from The Phytologist V

and later at Dell Road - prior to his death in 1881.

Census returns indicate that he was a "collector of the Poor Rate" and Precentor.

His father was a hosier (originally from Lincoln), and he may have worked for him at one stage.

Baptismal records indicate dob February 1832, baptism Aug 1832, Shrewsbury : parents James and Louisa, living at Wyle Cop, Shrewsbury.

(To be distinguished from Harry Fisher (1860-1935) who collected in Hants and Dorset).
