Any thoughts re bottom left label 'Near Rome'? Woods frequently travelled south across Europe, but this species occurs no further south than the mountains of Central Europe.

FWIW, I note that Woods' label refers to C. campanulatum and

and that Travels in Italy, Greece and the Jonian Islands in a Series of Letters, Volume 1 (1820) lists C campanulatum as present in the Coliseum
so perhaps Rome it was ........

Excellent! I don't know how you found that - but C campanulatum appears to be a synonym of C ligusticum - I'm editing in reference & photos
