N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Wasn't sure about the name Cabus afer the location data of Lancaster Canal - Is this a place or person? Am I supposed to fill in the V.C. number in the locality data if so which field

Hi Sarah,

The data you entered looks great. Cabus is actually a place in Lancashire. If you click Maps and gazetteers in the green box on the left hand side of the screen you get put through to the Ordnance Survey website where you can type in a name and it tells whether or not it exists.

You generally don't have to worry about the v.c. number as the computer inserts it in automatically most of the time.

Thank you for giving it a go. If there are any comments about the site or things you think need improving please let us know.

Thank you.

Kind regards,

Leander
