N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Have drawn a blank on Cowley Pool,Herefords for #2. There is a possibility that both the last two specimens are from the same date (28/6/1882) but it is not certain. If so Ley was in the Deerfold/Brampton Bryan area that day. Also can't read note (before "I think") in bottom RH corner! No Jordan sp. seems to match it!

I would say they are the same date, I have seen cut-up Ley labels like this before. Although I haven't investigated, the label before snipping would have read 'Heathy ground, near Cowley pool, Deerfold Forest' suggesting a single site? I read the note as 'V lepida Jord I think E D!' Stace 2nd edition says of V tricolor ssp tricolor: 'perennial plants occurring in hilly areas of the N have been referred to ssp saxatilis (V lepida Jord) but probably are variants of ssp tricolor or its hybrids with V arvensis or V lutea'. V x contempta is V tricolor x V arvensis.

Very many thanks. I agree and have combined the two entries.
I spent ages looking in CTW, a Jordan paper on line and even B & H before giving up on V. lepida! Stace is usually not very good at giving earlier synonyms (Have you ordered Stace 3 yet?)
