ocrnotes:Prestwich (in cultivated ground), Lancashire, July, 1887.--J. Cosmo Melvill. " Mr. MelvilPs Capsella consists of two roots from Prestwich. Referring these to the eight forms described as types in the " Flora of Leicestershire," and in the "Midland Naturalist," vol. 8, p. 217, they are neither of them quite typical. The smaller root comes near to a stunted example of stenocarpa lyrata, but the capsules have the lateral edges a little too straight, and the root leaves are not well developed. The larger root is intermediate between gracilis and rubtllaformis. The large number of undeveloped capsules allies it with the former, while in the shape of the developed capsules it approaches the latter."-- F. T. Mott.
