Anne Elizabeth Ball (1808-1872)
Anne E. Ball was an Irish algologist. She was born in Younghal, County Cork, Ireland. She had two siblings, a brother and a sister, Mary Ball (1812–1892) who was a naturalist and entomologist. Her specimens can be found in the Herbarium of the Irish National Botanic Gardens, in Ulster Museum and at Kew.
She collaborated with William H. Harvey on his Phycologia Britiannica. Harvey honored her by naming the Algae Ballia after her.
