a small point, but is not the correct date 02/07/1889, and not 11/02/1889 as printed in the extract, which would be XI on Linton's label? Am I labouring under a misapprehension here?!

I've found that they seem to use arabic numbers for the days and roman numerals for the months so i would assume that the 11th July as reocrded on the typed label was correct.

Yes, other Linton specimens are in the format 28 /X /etc
