Plant name lookup lists
Herbaria@home draws on plant name checklists from a variety of sources, notably the BSBI's taxon list which herb@home uses as its standard reference, and also Flora europaea and a transcript of the London Catalogue, 9th edition. At present our database concentrates on plant species present in the British and Ireland.
Using the form on this page you can search for taxon details and classification numbers and to check the name thesaurus that herb@home is using when listing specimens.
Searches can be made using systematic or common names or by number.
There is a separate herbarium sheet specimen search page.
If you would like access to an electonic version of the Flora Europaea systematic list you can send a letter, on official headed notepaper to Richard Pankhurst and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh stating that 1) you will use the data for non-commercial purposes and 2) that you will not make any copies available to other persons or institutions without permission from Edinburgh.
