N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

I seem to recall the 'Sheepwash' of Purchas and Ley is at Ross, Herefordshire - not N Devon - though Purchas has a specimen from Weston super Mare same month

Around OS SO565327 there is a disused railway emerging from a tunnel right onto the banks of the Wye. On this MAP [pdf] the area is called Sheepwash, and searching the internet finds a Sheepwash Cottage to the east near Ballingham Hall. This seems a more likely location for Purchas, who was living in Ross-on-Wye at the time, than the Devon Sheepwash which never appears to have had a railway.

Excellent info, and I will edit as Ballingham, though I still vaguely recall a sheet from 'Sheepwash, Ross' which should be a few miles to the south
