VC98 Argyllshire has two places called Beinn Laoigh - one is on the OS map as 'Beinn Laoigh' and is at NM9601 between Inveraray and Lochgilphead, it appears on the picklist as 'Beinn Laoigh (Ben Lui)' with grid ref NM90; the other is on the OS map as 'Ben Lui / Beinn Laoigh' and is at NN2527 between Dalmally and Tyndrum, it appears on the picklist as 'Beinn Laoigh' with grid ref NN22; though on the picklist there's also 'Ben Laoigh' with no grid ref, and 'Benn Laoigh' with grid ref NN22. (These are all under VC98 on the picklist - in combination with neighbouring VCs, other options appear)

The summit of Ben Lui/Beinn Laoigh (a 3-vice-county point; 1130m, 3708ft, OS NN265264; just Beinn Laoigh on pre-1955 OS maps) lies within 1km square OS NN2626 which includes West Perth VC87, Mid-Perth VC88, and Argyll VC98 (map below).

By using adjacent 1km squares the database can be persuaded to render individual vice-county locations, which may account for the cluttered pick-list.

About 40km SW is Beinn Laoigh NM9601 Argyll VC98 (not mapped as Ben Lui; 1421ft, 435m). An association of this place with Perthshire in the database seems erroneous. Is there any firm evidence that this was ever a collecting location?

Good question. 14 h@h specimens have been edited with the NM9601 grid ref; only 3 of these have a photo:
E S Marshall has 2 specimens from 14/7/1910, one has been thus edited, the other with no grid ref;
J C Melvill has 12 specimens 31/7/1891, 2 have been thus edited, but wrongly since the Crepis capillaris specimen is labelled 2000ft;
C J Wild has 1 from 7/1880 which has been thus edited, as Argyllshire, but the sheet is labelled Perthshire
I seem to think the problem lies partly in Perthshire pick-list entries with the NM9601 grid ref, but am confused
