Although dated '6/8. 1847' it is clear from Babington's Memoirs that he (in the company of Newbould and Townsend) visited Burgh Castle and Belton Fen from Yarmouth on 8th June 1847, not 6th August. I have a feeling I've been fooled by such dates before!

This date style is used unambiguously on sheet 289605 which shows what appears to be an original Babington label (cf. a letter of his) on the right, and a later addition of 'Ex. herb. & Coll.' on the left. The date in the style '6/23. 53' refers to 23rd June 1853 when the Memoirs report that Babington 'Went in the afternoon with Carter, in his gig, to Shudy Camps, and made a list of plants there.'
