Nedd seems to be an alternative to Neath
NEATH (Welsh, Casten-Nedd) , a municipal and contributory parliamentary borough, seaport and market-town of Glamorgan-shire, south Wales, prettily situated near the mouth of the Neath or Nedd, on the Great Western and the Rhondda

I think Nedd == Neath, so tried tracing back the tributaries, but the obvious W branch "Nedd Fechan" is into Breconshire, whereas Ley states Glamorgan. The previous day he was collecting at Cwm Haffes in Breconshire.

OS Grid reference SN9212

(map needs to be zoomed out by two stops to make any sense)

I've no confidence that I'm even vaguely on the right track with this.

EDIT: Was v. slow posting, so Chris got in first Smile
