N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

'Ditch, N [North?] Woolwich, Essex, by the Thames' - I recall a little part of Kent formerly lay on the Essex bank of the Thames close to London - is this it? In which case where in vc Essex is it located?

Yes: North Woolwich centred at about TQ429799, and a more substantial section down stream (Devil's House), are north of the Thames but in VC16 West Kent, and surrounded by VC18 South Essex. Probably dates back to grants of land made by William the Conqueror (Wikipedia).

See CUCAERA map.

http://www.essexfieldclub.org.uk/archivetext/s/033/o/0084 contains the statement "..... two or three very small parts on the north bank of the River Thames near North Woolwich botanically speaking belong to Kent."

Can we not give Cherry the credit for knowing in which Vice-county he was collecting?

"The Collector is always right" (almost always).
