It looks like "G Mair". There was a Gilbert Mair, of Scottish origin, a contemporary of Baker, who was a prominent New Zealand soldier and botanist. Baker has specimens in N Z Museum Herbarium.

It is now apparent to me that the collector must have been George Maw.
