This may be something else, However, there are two papers found on Google by Druce which imply that he MAY have used the name L baxteri for L repens x vulgaris (Ref. Druce 1892 Bot Exch Club Br Isles 1, 380-1 and Druce 1893 ibid 421). Allman's name of L x sepium for this hybrid was used in 1840 so if I'm right Druce's was nom. superfl. I don't know if/how these B E C journals can be accessed on line?
