Yes you are right. A lot of Bolton specimens are now coming up, and nearly all have this pesky number somewhere or other on the sheet (as well as often the rather invisible red stamp of the 'Prince of Mantua and Montferrat'). I'm also trying to get to know handwritings as many Bolton sheets are anonymous. I wish someone would advise what these numbers signify, and whether possibly they could be somewhere in a ledger where the specimen details have already been listed!
