'Miss Livens'

Numerous anonymous sheets have modern Bolton labels inscribed ' ? Miss Livens'.
Miss R G Livens has in most cases been entered on H@H as the collector. 'floreat 1880-1914' according to her H@H screen, yet the anonymous sheets ascribed to her on H@H (some uniform with this one) were collected 1875 - 1885. The label on http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/304176/ says 'see back of sheet for details' so could this one be manually examined for confirmation of Miss Livens' details?? Note Rev H M Livens would have been age 15 at this time.

The only R G Livens that I have found (so far) is a son of the Rev Livens - born circa 1892. Seemingly, he botanised with his father (see H@H wiki http://herbariaunited.org/wiki/Herbert_Mann_Livens ) on their move south - see below

ps The entry in Desmond may be flawed - his brother Horace Mann Livens was a painter and sculptor.

Thanks; I'm finding this confusing but intriguing! There is a set of specimens eg http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/304366/ which are anonymous but which a curators label states (rightly or wrongly) were collected by '? Miss Livens' and one of these was edited into H@H by someone (rightly or wrongly) as Miss R G Livens. The dates of these are 1875 - 1883; my point being that this person was older than H M Livens, who collected 1897 to 1907. As per my message, I still suggest manually exmining the back of the sheet as per label.

Yes, it is strange. I have looked at the labels on the sheets for Miss Livens. I suspect an error has occurred somewhere / sometime ...... how the R G was added is, as you say, intriguing. I suspect only Tom H can track this and look at the 'back of the sheet'
