N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

'French Woods' not located; collector's handwriting not recognised; there is a Frenchwood in Preston, Lancashire and a French Hill Wood in N Yorks. Of the H@H specimens from Preston, I did not see one with a similar label. Broadway specimen appearing Ononis spinosa?

Try Trench Woods - several other sheets from there on that date!

I agree that these Broadway sheets are likely to be the young G S West. With a father and brother actively botanising he was likely to be an early starter. There are 29 sheets already on H@H from Broadway in the West herbarium.
I haven't found any clues as to why he would have been so busy in Worcs at such an early age, though.

Aargh why didn't I realise the beloved Trench Wood ..... I see the other specimens of that fate from there have uniform (anonymous) labels; in handwriting I don't recognise.
