N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Does anybody know this place? Ley was in Herefordshire on the 21st and Monmouthshire on the 22nd.

This plant is most likely to have been picked in Perthshire.

A convincing reading of the placename.

The date appears to be incorrect; on h@h there are no 'coll Ley' specimens from Perthshire after 1874.

Yes I kept getting Carn Chreag but could not place it with Ley's collecting at that date, and this is the only specimen [so far] from Carn Chreag.
Although there is one from Killin [Carex laevigata 12/7/1872] but even ley's writing is not that bad.
Thanks anyway.

Cooperative research with mossysal confirms the site as Cam Chreag NN5839 but the collector is unequivocally Rev E F Linton see http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/227130/ and http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?x=258500&y=738500&z=0&sv=nn5838&st=5&mapp=map.srf&searchp=ids.srf
