Such numbers crop up frequently on all types of sheets and I believe everyone ignores them, as being former efforts at curating sheets. A similar system to ignore, is numbers from plant guides/catalogues/floras eg LC = London Catalogue; and 'a b c' etc which seem to relate to the subspecies or varieties in those catalogues.
