N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

herb Haines evident from 'handwriting'. Numerous specimens of his from 'Southover garden' - possibly from Southover TQ655255 near Burwash, Sussex, the county of so many of his specimens.

The date on the label is 1887, though it appears to have been overwritten.

I do not think Southover near Burwash is correct. There is a Southover forming part of Lewes which is more likely but there are objections to that too as other collections from Southover have been made on the same day as gatherings from the Shoreham/Worthing area which would have been logistically extremely difficult in the late C19th. Is 'Southover' the name of a house in the Worthing area?

Probably just co-incidence but Joseph Woods lived in (Priory Crescent) Southover, Lewes (but deceased by the time of collection).

Several of the Haines family were based over in Dorset (Winfrith, Frederick Haselfoot Haines and his children) and some near Chichester (Thomas Turgis Haines and William Haines).
