N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Should be labelled as hybrid, H albus x niger? Can't read all of label, Dartford ? Institute. What is word after Cochrane? Also Dartford in Kent, not Surrey.

This specimen was probably from material cultivated in the garden of the South London Botanical Institute, at Tulse Hill, originally in County of Surrey. W.H.Griffin (WHG) was at the time Curator. Hence the words 'Hort' 'Institute' and 'Surrey'.

The name after P Cochrane appears to be B Burroughs

It is a reference to Burroughs and Wellcome Physic garden, where they grew material for their labs etc - Foxgloves, Henbane etc
see for example
