According to Wolley Dod in Flora of Sussex Mrs Oakshott discovered the first record of this species for Sussex in 1872 on th esea beach between St Leonards and Bexhill. this seems to imply it might not be St Leonard's
[most of her records are from st Leonards East Sussex

The left hand label bears the script of W Hunt Painter.

The right hand label which is in Bennett's hand says "Hort Croydon". Bennett often grew plants from seed, roots stock etc in his garden - he even had a pond for the Potamogetons. He was based in the High Street, and ran his painting / building business from there.
