The H@H list gives us 3 x J Jacob from the 19thC (plus a 4th died 1941, and Joseph Jacob no specimens):

Rev John Jacob of Devonport 1796-1849; author of 'Flora of west Devon & Cornwall' (1835) - info from David Price - no specimens but presumably the same as :

John Jacob - specimens from Devon and Cornwall

J Jacob - specimens from widespread parts of Britain.

These specimens are mostly in BON, mounted on sheets of C O Groom aka Mantua & Montferrat; some dated after 1849 but that may relate to M&M's scruffy labelling. The name J Jacob or similar appears in the same handwriting.
