I now read the date as1991. Benson collected on the N Wales coast that summer and http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/237225/ from Barmouth may be relevant.

More likely 1891!

This is not B. oleracea - look at the upper stem leaves. Isn't it B. cheiranthus as suggested by curator?

The lifespan for Edwin Bernard Benson was 1858-1940, and he was a younger brother of Richard de Gylpyn Benson (1856–1904). The latter is one of the subjects of Bygone Bryologists [pdf] by Mark Lawley.
