Taxon:Violaceae: Viola canina x lactea
named by Patrick Martin Hall 4/6/1929
Collected by:Mr Patrick Martin Hall
Collection date:4/6/1929
Locality:Great Britain, VC11 South Hampshire, New Hilton, Wootton Heath
exchanged:Botanical Society & Exchange Club of The British Isles
Institution:Manchester Museum (MANCH)
Accession number:MANCH.94546
notes:"This particular form of this hybrid appears to be referable to location's intermedia. A plant similar to the larger of those distributed is very probably the origin of the erroneous record of V. stagnina for the New Forest. Mr J.E. Lousley suggests that these larger plants may be "giant" hybrids arising from the duplication of the chromosomes." P.M. Hall
