ocrnotes:R. melanoxylon, Mull, and Wirtg,, Branksome, Dorset; rough bushy ground, in good quantity, 29th July, 1887. This is the plant described by Professor Babington; in 'Jour. Bot.' 1887, pp. 21^ 22. I have found it this year in several widely separated localities near East Dorset, and also near Brockenhurst, in the New Forest, S. Hants. It will be of interest to several members of the Club if I add that the R. plinthostylus described by the Professor in the same paper (page 22) is the beautiful little bramble which I sent for distribution as a small Kmhleriioxxa. from Minster Valley, E, Cornwall, in 1885,-- W.
