Mentha arvensis herbarium specimen from Cornworthy, VC3 South Devon in 1942 by Francis Morland Day.
fruits/flowers:mature flowers
notes:[By A.L. Still] This could be var. sylvicola (H.Br.) Top. He puts nummularia (Schreb.) Top. as a form of this. But nummularia Schreb. is a most unsatisfactory thing. The original description would apply to almost any arvensis. What seems to have struck Schreber was the fact that the primordial leaves were orbicular, but so are all such leaves in arvensis. What Fearn took for this var. would come under varians Top. I have seen all sorts of things in the folders of nummularia in the various Herbaria. A.L.S.
