Biography

Born 3rd January 1928 in Yorkshire.
1949 BSc, and 1953 PhD, King's College, Durham (now the University of Newcastle).
1951-1961 lecturer in the Botany Department at the University of Ghana.
1961-1963 lecturer at Birkbeck College, University of London.
1963-1967 Professor & Head of the Botany Department at the University of Sierra Leone.
1968-1994 Professor of Biology at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.
Died 9th January 2011, at his home in Waterloo.
