William Phillips Hamilton

William Phillips Hamilton (7/3/1840-10/6/1910) Born in Presteigne, Radnorshire. Worked in the family business as a taylor. Nephew of Rev. William Phillips (1822-1905). Friend of William Leighton (1805-1889). Bryologist and botanist. Referee for Musci and Hepaticae for the Caradoc & Severn Valley Field Club, Shrewsbury. He prepared (with R.D. Benson) a Flora of Shropshire which was never published (last edited in 1909). The MS is now at the Shropshire Archive, Shrewsbury. Plants at SHY and NMW.
