notes: | This form, as interesting by its styles in a protruding column almost as in R. stylosa Desv., is probably in reality only a variation of R. canina L. of the group R. dumetorum Thuill. If this is indeed the case, it must be confessed that it is very embarrassing for botanists who do notk now thoroughly the R. stylosa, and who, by reason of its protruding styles, might be tempted to class it as R. stylosa. It is to be remarked that this protruding column is more or less pubescent, while in R. stylosa it is always glabrous. - Crepin in litt. |
