| notes: | Purchased 1835 [Note in the hand of Fraser:] Here is the grievance. This Gentilis of mine is so unfortunate as not to correspond with a certain Gentilis published by Mr Sowerby - some time before my work came out - Therefore Dr Smith says it is a Strange Variety about 6 removes off the true Plant - Whereas it is the only Mint extant that has the grand characteristic quality of the true Gentilis namely the strong Basil Scent aye but scent goes for nothing - unless where he wants it. |
