| notes: | handwriting may be that of Giseke, student of Linnaeus; a symbol by the stem in different ink looks like 'Hu' which was used by Linnaeus to represent 'Hortus Upsaliensis' ie. grown in Uppsala botanic garden; original label appears to say 'dett Linnaeus Scrophularia frutescens' followed by undeciphered word(s), but the species epithet and following word(s) have been overwritten with 'betonicaefolia - e scripsit'; Scrophularia betonicifolia is synonymous with Scrophularia scorodonia, but the specimen does not have the pubescence nor the serrate leaves of that species - although the specimen is only the upper part of the plant, it seems to be glabrous, and the small leaves present are almost entire - it is thus more like the crossed-out species Scrophularia frutescens; specimen attached by small opaque strips, and glue at the upper end; small sheet about A4; 'Edinburgh University Herbarium' stamp; watermark contains lion with sword, woman with staff, and phrase 'Pro Patria' |
Inferred details are marked.
