notes:In "North Yorkshire" (1863) J G Baker refers to Newby Wiske carr and to Oenanthe Phellandrium growing there. The carr, he says, is like one of the Cambridgeshire or Huntingdonshire fens upon a small scale and is one of the best stations for hygrophilous plants in North Yorkshire.
