notes: | Part of gathering sent to Prof Petrak Sept 1922(Czechoslovakia) The English plant appears to be different from that on the Continent; hence it has been called subsp britannicum. See Gard. Chron Oct 14 1922, and The Garden, with larger and different photo, Oct 28 1922(both by HST) Photo attached to sheet labelled as follows: Plant 5ft high. Largest leaves of rosette (to right) exactly 3ft long! =90cms 21 Aug 1922 Not in Scotland or Ireland, nor in Devon & Cornwall, but frequent in parts of Somerset especially on Lias. |
