notes:Maurice Bouly de Lesdain was born in Dunkerque (Nord) on 20 September 1869 and died on 3 January 1965. He firstly studied medicine and became a Doctor at the age of 25. Two years later he completed his degree in natural sciences and at the age of 41 was awarded a doctorate for his thesis on the lichens around Dunkirk for which he also won an award from the Academy of Sciences. Between 1905 and 1965 he published nearly 200 papers and notes on lichens. During the First World War he joined the cyptogamic laboratory at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris. He also published a list of Mosses growing around Dunkirk and a paper on the Gramineae of Dunkirk.
