Yes, Pen y Wylt = modern Penwyllt
OS Grid reference SN8515

It could also be a 5 or an 8, don't you think? He was in the area every year from 1883-1888 incl. so that doesn't help!

I think the date could be any of those numbers! 3, 5 or 8 Laughing

I've had another look at the specimen search for Ley for 1883-1888 and you were right the first time, I think, as 1883 was the only year he collected as early as May.
