I agree that its 'in the path field'. Ley has written 'var Desenglesei Jord?' and 'E D' has probably written 'form of Lloydii I think'. I wasn't sure about the latter, but looking in Clapham Tutin & Warburg (10p ex-library book!), V lloydii is an old name for V tricolor ssp tricolor.

'E D' quite likely = Eric Drabble
