N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Winton is under deep suspicion of being Winchester. There are Longwood place-names to the SW around SU5324. Ralfs has several specimens from the area and more from Hampshire generally.

Wikipedia on Winchester College says: "According to its statutes, the school is called in Latin 'Collegium Sanctae Mariae prope Wintoniam', which translates into English as 'St Mary's College, near Winchester'."

Thanks. Combined with the Oliver's Battery and Crab Wood clues on some sheets, I think this settles it
