'R E Houghton' collected in the Highlands in 1959, but was he really R E Houston? See his name resembling Houston eg on http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/273387/ On other sheets eg http ://herbariaunited.org/specimen/295486/?image
his name even resembles Hougton or Longton ... while a 1931 sheet from Renfrewshire is inscribed R E or R S Houston in a similar hand, http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/371829/ |

R. S. Houston, Natural History Society of Glasgow, collected plants in Renfrewshire in 1890s.
Simpson's Index mentions W. Houghton, Shrops. and Caerns. (1870); and F.T.S.Houghton, Worcestershire (1922).
R.E.Longton who published profusely in the British Antarctic Survey Scientific Reports in the 1970s was subsequently a bryologist at Reading University. |

Thanks - I've done some editing - that leaves 13 sheets from 1959 of 'R E Houghton' which should be R E Longton |
