N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Looking at this sheet and http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/354185/ Bullman's labelling has created a quandry. The county is 'vc78 Ayr' on this sheet and 'vc75 Ayr' on the other; vc75 is indeed Ayrshire but Arrochar is in vc99 Dunbartonshire at NN30 on the gazetteer. I find it on the map at NN2904, which can apparently be in vc98 Argyllshire, or vc99 Dunbartonshire. Secondly, all the photographed 'Patton' sheets are herb Ullman, but in all those I've examined he spells it 'Patten'.

Arrochar has the problem of lying on the boundary between NN20 and NN30, plus of being in VC 99, Dunbarton, but within 1km of VC98, Main Argyll.

As for collectors, the database has:

D Patton: 5 specimens, collected 1915 to 1951, 4 Scotland, 1 Wiltshire
Donald Patton (1884-1954): 19 specimens, collected 1907-1951, all Scotland
Douglas Patton 1 specimen 347889 - 30/6/1913 Stirlingshire ex herb: R B Ullman

The 'Douglas' sheet has the name written in full, but the surname could be 'Patton' or 'Patten'!

Having a quick look at the 'Donald' sheets I could not find his name written in full, only 'D'. Do we know where the 'Donald' came from? Or did Ullman not know him well enough to get his forename right?!

Having just found the facility to Search Kent & Allen for collectors, I tried it out on 'Donald Patton'. I was surprised to find collector 12755 who was imported from K&A with dates 1884-1959. There is, however, a warning: This entry has been replaced by a new entry. The new entry is collector 14900 with dates 1884-1954, but no reference to K&A. It is this latter one that comes up during a normal search. I have no idea why there was a change. Mad
