The label says "Cheshire" but Bennett has no other 1888 spmn from that Vc. for comparison.

The plant is "comm" A. Bennett so, in view of the comment "flowering in autumn", perhaps it had been sent to him as a phenological oddity.

I believe that a number of papers / letters appeared in J of Bot on the monoecious form of Mercurialis
