N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Hi Larry,
welcome to herb@home.

I think the obscured placename is 'Deerfold', which although I can't locate on a map appears (based on this link) to be somewhere around Chapel Farm.

Deerfold is named on the map and lies between Limebrook and and Cross of the Tree. In the literature the site is sometimes called "Lingen" (a village just to the west). I believe Asarum is still extant there.

Note that "Forest" (in Oliver Rackham's words) has little to do with trees and everything to do with deer; and defines an area subject to mediaeval game laws.

Thank you - I don't know how I missed it.

(I knew the technical meaning of 'forest' yet still fell into the trap of looking for trees...)
