Sharpe, Daniel (1806-56): born Marylebone, 6 Apr. 1806; died London, 31 May, 1856. Geologist. F.L.S. 1828; F.E.S. 1850.

Discovered Astrantia major at Stokesay Castle, 1840.

Also collected in Portugal; plants in Herb. Mus. Brit.

Also, an expert on Palaeozoic geology, published papers in Geol Soc London - particularly relating to Silurian rocks. Known to Darwin.
