N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

I can't locate a 'Scotchgrove Hill' or similar - at least not in British Isles

I wonder if this is Scotsgrove Hill OS SP7107, a country estate, just north of Thame, Oxfordshire, but over the border in Buckinghamshire?

How about J Benjamin Stone as collector? Style of numbers in date looks similar, and he didn't often stray far from Thame when collecting.

You're definitely right! Similar sheet: http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/294623/?image And Scotsgrove Hill shows on Streetmap as part of the A418

Is Kent & Allen's Sir J Benjamin Stone (fl. 1882-1892) identical with the politician and photographer of the same name (1838-1914) mentioned in Wikipedia? Are they, or either of them, identical with the "presenter" of sheet http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/294623/?image and with the collector of that specimen?

These questions are prompted by the specimens' collection date - 1843: when Wiki's Stone was then only five years old!

I suggest that in the absence of sure answers the specimens should be described as "ex herb J B Stone" and the collector as "not known". Similar problems have arisen with other specimens that have passed through the hands of G S West (cf. 'Donor unknown').
