N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

I think it says 'R[ailwa]y Embankment' - and thus the left bank of the Avon and hence VC6, North Somerset.

Thanks, with a little bit of imagination on the second word that looks the most likely explanation. I notice there is also a railway on the N bank of the Avon, so I guess I had better leave in both VC6 and VC34.

The collector has written "Glos" (under "Gorge") so it's Vc 34.

You're right, and two other sheets show that Devis was that side of the river on 14/7/1916!
