N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

I can't read place name; Clarke has no other specimens from this year currently; possibly Shillay NF885915 but he has no other Outer Hebrides specimens; Shillay / Siolaigh isn't as high as 5800 feet!

Search of herbarium at Kew, where Clarke worked in his later life, shows he collected at Shallong, Meghalaya State, India, in June 1886. Town itself at ~5000ft, highest local peak Lum Shallong is ~6450ft. Example sheet.

Thanks for that excellent tip. I wasn't aware of that on-line herbarium, and wondered if it contains British or Irish specimens not included in h@h?
