N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

Any suggestions for this site? Possibly a site of cultivation not in the Western Pyrenees? Or who 'Mall' might be? Internet: 'Aspe is a small town located in the Valencian community with its nearest neighbouring town being Elche. Alicante is twenty five kilometres away with all of its amenities' ie far from the Pyrenees.

The collector is possibly John Ball (1818-1889), politician, naturalist and alpinist, who as a lad in 1835 accompanied C. C. Babington to Connemara.

The location might read 'Au valle Aspe', the Aspe being a river on the French side of the Pyrenees, south of Oloron-Sainte-Marie to the Spanish border, in the department of Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

I think David is be right with John Ball, see sheet 384906 showing initial 'J' running into a poorly-formed 'B'.
