N.B. reporting of the edit history is currently fairly unclear and misleading. Most edits made to specimens appear as a pair of 'add' and 'delete' entries, which may not be together in the list. There are also often 'minor' edits, which are made automatically (rather than due to user activity), for example to merge synonym names.

I read it as Shandon, though Bentham has no other Dunbartonshire specimens. NB 'o' at this time often looked as we would write 'a'

Is it Schundan?

Bentham travelled extensively. I have found "and not to lie pressed back altogether from the Elite. Hliiehcr’s headcpiarters were established at llerrnbnt, his left wing resting 011 the Elbe at Schundan, amd his right stationed at Bautzen." (a bit scrambled by digitisation) where Schundan is in Lusatia (now within modern Saxony and Brandenburg). This refers to the Napoleonic Wars Battle of Bautzen 1813.

Schundan is on the Elbe, close to Bautzen.
