http://herbariaunited.org/specimen/376129/ has now come to light, and suggests this specimen is a separate collection, made by Isaac Rand d 1743 and Adam Buddle d 1715

These two sheets appear to be the only collections of Adam Buddle or Isaac Rand currently in h@h. It seems interesting to find M verticillata was named so early
